The lifeblood of any college football program starts and ends with every recruiting cycle. It can be altered by the transfer portal, but even then, your favorite program needs to keep recruiting players on other teams and within your university. On 3/30/2023, USC received one of the biggest commitments for the 2023 recruiting cycle in the #1 Tight End (#19 Overall Nationally) of the class in Duce Robinson.

Robinson lives in Phoenix, Arizona where he played football at Pinnacle High School. This is where he has earned the 5-Star Ranking and a 24/7 Sports Composite of 0.9907 ratings. The 6-foot-6, 229-pound Tight End picked up an Under Armour All-American Game roster spot after a very impressive senior season. He caught 84 passes, and 14 touchdowns, and averaged 115.3 yards/per game while collecting 1,614 yards in fourteen games.

However, football is not the only sport in which Robinson has excelled. He is also being considered a very high draft selection (possibly 1st round) in this next year’s Major League Baseball Amateur draft. Good thing USC’s head coach Lincoln Riley is no stranger to navigating those types of conversations.

""My hope is at the end of his career at USC; he's in a position where he can pick. That was a pretty fun spot to get to with Kyler Murray. We have a tremendous plan ready for him.""

Brad Crawford, 24/7 Sports

Riley, while coaching the Oklahoma Sooners, helped mold Murray into a Heisman Trophy-winning Quarterback while he also played college baseball. He was talented enough to be drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round and ninth overall in the 2018 draft.

Robinson chose to attend the University of Southern California over Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. He will be joining two other 5-star prospects in (#5 QB) Malachi Nelson from Los, Alamitos, CA and (#1 WR) Zachariah Branch from Las Vegas, NV. This now gives USC the #7 Overall 2023 recruiting class.

Fight On!
