Former USC Football Head Coach Clay Helton has been doing an impressive job in his new head coaching gig, as has current USC Football Head Coach Lincoln Riley. As for Helton, he has Georgia Southern 2-0, and coming off of a win against historical powerhouse Nebraska where he effectively ended Scott Frost's tenure in Lincoln as head coach. Frost was fired after Helton beat him.

Georgia Southern should never be able to beat Nebraska, yet Helton got the job done. This was after he also blew out Morgan State in Week 1. It's safe to say that he's off to a hot start. When interviewed on Monday, however, he made it a point to talk about Lincoln Riley's hot start without even being asked:

Again, Helton is being interviewed after he just beat Nebraska ON THE ROAD with a Group of Five program to get Nebraska's head coach fired. The coach who was supposed to be the Cornhuskers' Chosen One. Still, though, Helton made it a point to congratulate USC and Lincoln Riley. Helton remains one of the classiest head coaches in the country.

The USC football coaching decisions to part ways with Clay Helton and hire Lincoln Riley have worked out for both coaches.

That's because Clay Helton has so far done a standout job at his new spot, and Lincoln Riley has also been doing a standout job for USC football. Riley is also off to a 2-0 start, and has the Trojans as the No. 7 team in the country just two weeks into his USC career. Both coaches have clearly benefited from their new jobs.

A year ago, Helton was fired from his blue blood job after a loss in Week 2 against Stanford at home. Now, HE'S the one firing someone from their blue blood job. A year ago, Riley was just one week removed from almost losing to Tulane at home. Now, he's outscoring his opponents 107-42 on the year despite inheriting a 4-8 team.

It's no wonder Mike Bohn and Clay Helton are proud of each other. It's great to hear that they're on good terms too. Helton's a long-time Trojan, and real will always recognize real. Bohn's proud of a fellow class act in Helton, and Helton is proud of his former players and program for their hot start as well.
