Maintaining standards and ensuring that USC keeps up with all of the needed aspects throughout the program is going to continue to be absolutely critical. There has been too much of a lax nature within the building since the days when coach Pete Carroll roamed the sidelines at the Coliseum.
Now, there are new voices that coach Lincoln Riley has added to the staff that are ensuring that the way in which the Trojans approach their day-to-day activities is at a level such that the program can return to its winning ways.
Director of football sports performance Trumain Carroll has done what he can from his position. As a leader for the athletes' strength and conditioning, coach Carroll is setting the tone and bringing back the edge in the practice preparations that will allow USC to have a physical and mental advantage heading into games.
Secondary coach Trovon Reed is another Trojan staff newcomer who is raising the standards from his role within the team. As shared by Sidelines - USC on X, coach Reed is making it known that lowering the expectations will not be an option. Either players will rise to the occasion, or the next option on the depth chart will see an increased opportunity.
Needed change at USC
This is the type of mentality that is needed right now at USC. Having intense leadership that keeps people accountable will make it so that those on the roster will be forced to rise to the occasion.
Witnessing this change and different emphasis in Troy comes as a highly welcome sight. The players themselves know that the past seasons did not perform at the needed levels. They know that with increased discipline and with leadership that continues to demand the best of them, they will ultimately lead to team success and pave the best path forward for a potential pathway to the NFL.
