There are a lot of talented, big bodies for USC in the trenches. This is especially true on the defensive side of the ball. With something that was seen as a weak point in past seasons, the 2025 Trojans could realistically be a featured strength of the team.

Led by coach D'Anton Lynn, the defensive coordinator is looking to further build on the progress that he has established since his arrival from UCLA.

Already, there have been some clear improvements on defense since the DC's arrival. One of the other additions to the defensive staff includes that of coach Eric Henderson. Serving as USC's co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, he too has made a noticeable impact on the Trojan unit since arriving from the Los Angeles Rams.

Coach Henderson has done well to establish the relationships early in Los Angeles with the student-athletes. One of the newcomers that is poised to have a big role on the defense is Keeshawn Silver. The former North Carolina and Kentucky player, the veteran, brings a lot of experience to the defensive line.

Silver showing early impact on USC's program

As shared by WeAreSC.com's Scott Schrader, according to coach Henderson, with Silver on the team, it is essentially like having a professional on the field and in the locker room. Coach Henderson was also certain to point out how Silver's impact can be seen in areas that are not necessarily directly football related.

Having an established, experienced presence is something that this defense will be able to lean on. USC fans who have been looking for better play from the trenches should be highly looking forward to the Trojan debut of Silver. After overcoming a minor injury setback during the spring, the defensive lineman appears ready to make the most out of his playing time for USC.
