A lot is possible at USC football. For some players, coming to Los Angeles is where athletes come to excel. At the other end, while still striving for greatness, it's a place to hit the reset button. The two may seem like the same thing. They are the same goal, largely the same approach, but it's a different initial vantage point.
Jamaal Jarrett is using LA as an opportunity to turn the page and begin a new chapter in his life. The former Georgia player and North Carolina native is coming to the West Coast to put his best foot forward and develop into the best version of himself possible.
He believes that joining the Trojans, under the guidance and care of this staff, he'll be able to make the most of his talents and put on excellent tape in the Cardinal and Gold. Coming out of high school, Jarrett was a four-star recruit. While playing for Grimsley HS, he could be seen pushing back the pocket and stuffing the run.
Now, two years into his college career, he has amassed a total of 16 games. Standing at 6'5" and 249 lbs., he wants to prove at this level why so many were high on him. Between the force that he has and his athleticism, Jarrett will be well-positioned to not only see more snaps in 2025 but also be able to show off what led evaluators to give him his four-star status.
Potential goal within USC football program
Numbers are meaningful. And while sitting with Trojans Live , the school-run production, he explained his current #0 jersey number. So far enjoying his time in the state, he shared:
"Just a restart, refresh... This is my restart here in Cali."
Although he is happy with being, as the show called it, 'Agent Zero,' Jarrett mentioned that he would like the chance to earn the right to wear the No. 55 jersey. Not retired, the former number of Willie McGinest has to be earned and has a high bar for that to be considered by a current player.
If the latest change by the redshirt transfer sophomore goes according to plan for him, he could play himself into possible contention for that honor. He knows as well as anyone what they would take from his end. That's a side aspect for now. Currently, his focus is on getting in football shape for the upcoming fall and being ready to be a disruptive force on the defensive line.
