Taking any jump up in competition is going to be difficult. Former USC quarterback Caleb Williams has done well, all things considered, during his first year in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. Now extended, GM Ryan Poles has done what could have been done in his power to support the franchise QB.

Slated to lead the Bears in his second year, the QB is overall in a better position than what he was during his rookie season. The way in which Poles has improved the roster over the years and the continued way in which Chicago attempts to shore up their position groups is a welcomed sight for the former Trojan and those continuing to follow his career in the NFL.

While speaking to an audience, as shared by SM NFL writer Dave, Peyton Manning spoke on how much the inclusion of coach Ben Johnson will mean to Williams.

Continuity is something that can be difficult to come by. For Williams, there has already been some early turmoil and upheaval, making it that much more difficult to know what is expected or to gain any rhythm within a system.

As Manning would go on to explain, coach Johnson being the de facto head coach and offensive coordinator, will provide Williams that sense of reliable predictability and a chance to grow within one offensive scheme for a long time to come.

Chicago hired coach Johnson with the thought of the former Detroit Lions OC being the long-term answer for the organization. A young coach and offensive guru, his being in charge of the Bears will allow Williams to maintain his place in the offense, knowing heading into each year moving forward of what to expect.

Chance to see best version of former USC QB

Being able to keep the same language and hear the same voice for the years to come is an advantage that the former USC QB will be able to take advantage of and marks a significant departure from what his rookie season in Chicago was like. There is also the added aspect of Williams not needing to be worried over a rising offensive coordinator candidate being considered elsewhere and taking a different head coaching job. That is, after all, how the Bears landed coach Johnson to begin with.

Give Williams time with what Chicago is building now, and he will help the Bears make some noise in the NFC North and the league as a whole.
