Sometimes, it is all about the phrasing and word order of a post, particularly on social media. USCFootball.com's Connor Morrissette took to X to give an update from coach Lincoln Riley regarding USC wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane.
In the first past of the post in question, it is mentioned that Lane had broken his foot. At first, when reading the post without context, one's heart drops. Fortunately for Lane and the Trojan faithful, though, it is mentioned, too, that the setback occurred in May. Coach Riley was simply updating people as to the current status of the WR.
Collectively, USC fans went through a small roller coaster emotionally. Going from being worried about Lane missing out on the rest of the season to then realizing that this is actually an entirely positive update gave a brief scare. Thankfully, though, the Trojan wideout is fully healthy and has not suffered a further setback since then.
Ready for upcoming USC season ahead
A couple of months away from the incident, Lane is now fully healthy and is ready to show the rest of college football just how underrated he is. In reality, he should be in discussions, along with Makai Lemon, as one of the better receiving options in the Big Ten.
Most safely assume that this will be his last year in Troy. Depending on the type of year that he has, the junior could end up being quite the high pick by the time the NFL draft comes around in 2026. Lane certainly has the potential to be an instant contributor as a rookie at the professional level. First things first, though, he is slated to have a good season for the Trojans.
With the slightly terrifying event over with, USC fans can now continue to eagerly look forward to the start of the season and anticipate the big year that is ahead for Lane.
