With the start to the season a little over a month away for USC, coach Lincoln Riley took to the airwaves in Las Vegas, giving the current state of the Trojan program during the Big Ten Media Days.

While many are expecting for the team to have a closer record to that of when coach Riley first arrived at Los Angeles, it was important to the Trojan head coach to acknowledge the level of effort that he has witnessed throughout the program.

Speaking with USC team reporter Keely Eure, coach Riley shared how the renewed purpose and focus throughout the building is not only exciting to see but also something that he truly believes will now result in meeting the needed standards on the field as well.

The games are obviously played out during the fall and winter months. What goes into allowing a team to be in a position to win is something that happens during the summer, however. It is the time and work put in around July and August that ends up producing the needed mindset and competitive spirit in order to be victorious when it matters the most. For coach Riley, he has witnessed everyone as a whole, collectively, step up and get USC to the level that is needed across multiple facets, an element that has been missing for too long at the program.

What this will mean for USC

Various specific aspects of the team, including recruiting and the new strength and conditioning program, should enable Trojan fans to approach the 2025 season with a reasonable amount of optimism. In general, the overview makes it so that all areas can be in a better position to contribute to the team success of USC.

Hearing coach Riley take the time to appreciate and take a moment to point out the improved nature of the landscape of the Trojans comes as something that USC fans will hope now snowballs into wins on the field.
