Alright, by now we've all heard about Auburn claiming nearly every national title in the 20th century that Alabama hadn't already claimed. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
But now these guys want to claim the 2004 national title? THAT'S FUNNY. And I bet that little clown Senator made some sort of taped statement about it on X too righ?
There is no doubt in my mind: the 2004 Auburn Tigers were the best team in college football.

The players, coaches, and fans deserve to be recognized as the National Champions.

Listen, I'm not going to come on here and disparage the 2004 Auburn team. They were the second-best team in the country. Jason Campbell was an above-average quarterback. Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams were a heck of a running back duo, and they ran behind Marcus McNeill, a certified beast at tackle.
The defense was solid. Carlos Rogers was a first-round pick. Again I thought the Tigers were a much more deserving team than the Oklahoma squad that the Men of Troy dragged up and down the field over and over again.
But be serious Auburn. Y'all know who the real champions are. And you know that if you stepped on the field with USC, you were getting smoked. The Trojans would've put that backside on a rotisserie like they did in 2003.
Oh, you don't remember 2003? When USC walked right into Jordan-Hare Stadium and skunked the Tigers 23-0? Believe me when I say, you got off easy compared to what would have happened had you dared line across the field from those Trojans in Miami a year later.
Today’s a great day to remember USC traveled to the Deep South in August 2003.

USC was wire-to-wire No. 1 in 2004. From start to finish, the Trojans were the best team in the country. Auburn was never in the discussion. I'm sorry guys, you were a good team with some good players. The Trojans had All-Americans and Heisman winners on the roster. Real dudes.
With common opponents, the Trojans beat Virginia Tech, 24-13 in Week 1in Washington, D.C., basically a road game in front of 91,000 people. Auburn needed a late stop to beat the Hokies 16-13 in the Sugar Bowl...I mean a win is a win I guess, but that's what you're hanging a banner on?
I get it Auburn. It's hard being the "other" football team in the state. Everyone talks about Alabama while the Tigers are maybe the 13th-best team in the SEC. They are mainstays for that 4 p.m. SEC Network game that no one watches. There's not a lot to really hang your hat on these days.
Anyone can claim anything in college football these days. Auburn might as well claim every title from 1910 to 1997 since they are cooking the books. And if calling yourselves the 2004 National Champions makes you feel better, go for it.
But you know the truth.
