Like father, like son, as the expression goes. Basketball fans will remember Gilbert Arenas scoring at will in the NBA, with his stops including the Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors. His son, incoming USC freshman Alijah Arenas, will be joining the USC basketball team later this year.

In something of a touching nod to his father's playing days, the younger Arenas will also wear a #0 jersey, only this one will be in the Cardinal and Gold.

For those who watched basketball during the early 2000s, this announcement from USCFootball.com's Connor Morrissette is a throwback to when one of the great all-time scorers of his era. 'Agent Zero,' as the three-time All-Star was called then, is living a second life now through his son, Alijah, a talented player who continues to make a name for himself on the court in his own right.

While Gilbert Arenas attended Arizona before being drafted by Golden State, this will be a nice legacy-adjacent moment for the current high school senior.

At the time, Gilbert Arenas was coached by coach Eric Musselman while wearing the #0 jersey. Now, his son will carry on the family tradition as a Trojan under the same head coach.

A lot to like about the incoming USC freshman's game

The younger Arenas was rated as a five-star recruit before announcing his commitment to USC for a reason. He is someone who offers a nice skill set from the guard position. Depending on how he continued to recover from his earlier car incident, if fully recovered and healthy, he could see a lot of playing time expected of him early as a freshman.

While at Chatsworth High School, Arenas showcased his ability to handle and score at a high level. Making the transition to the next level takes some time for all freshman student-athletes. When he does start getting things going, and it may very well be from the moment he steps foot on the court as a collegiate player, it will be in the #0 jersey, just like his father.
