Part of the journey as a top national recruit is the ability to play and train during the building of showcases. Basketball has events like the McDonald's All-American Game; football, too, has a number of events. One of USC's commits recently received an invite to one of the more prestigious opportunities for high school athletes.

Rated as a four-star offensive lineman, Vlad Dyakonov accepted his invitation to the Navy All-American Bowl, which is held every January. The USC commit is part of the class of 2026 and announced his decision to join the Trojans earlier in April.

For recruits and commits, the weekend at the Navy All-American Bowl provides an excellent, well-rounded experience in the careers of the young athletes.

There is high-level coaching and an all-star-like game at the end to cap things off, but the winter days of the occasion are about more than that. It allows the athletes to learn from and listen to those who have dedicated themselves to this country as service members.

During this year's Navy All-American Bowl, Joe Cardona, an active member of the Navy Reserve, was featured during the event. The longtime New England Patriots and former Navy Midshipman long snapper, who won two Super Bowls with his NFL team, welcomed three-star commit Garrison Dibble to the Armed Services Academy program live on NBC earlier this year.

Past invites for USC commits

Many who have played in the game itself have gone on to not only have successful college careers but also careers at the NFL level. In the same event earlier this year, current '26 Trojan commit Xavier Griffin played and saw part of his story shared during the 'Road to the Dome' series on the NBC network.

For everyone involved, it is an honor and a platform. Yes, part of the reason for attending is to showcase the athlete's abilities. It is also a good opportunity to connect with others and represent the USC program for those committed to the Trojan program.
