USC basketball recruiting: Highly-touted 2023 guard names Top 10
USC basketball is one of 10 programs in the running for top 2023 prospect Mikey Williams.
If you follow high school basketball, chances are you already know the name Mikey Williams. USC basketball fans are about to get a lot more familiar with the 2023 prospect.
Williams released his Top 10 list on Wednesday afternoon, including the Trojans among his favorites.
He is also considering Arizona State, Memphis, San Diego State and Kansas, along with HBCUs like Alabama State, Hampton, NC Central, Tennessee State and Texas Southern. Williams is one of several basketball and football recruits who have been inspired to consider HBCUs because of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Why should USC basketball want Mikey Williams?
Williams only just finished his freshman season at San Ysidro High School but he is already a bit of a household name. Thanks in part to high-flying dunking videos, he has 2.3 million followers on Instagram.

The play of the 6-foot-2 guard stands up to the social media scrutiny. He was MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year after a dominant opening campaign, averaging 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. He is the owner of the CIF-San Diego section all-time scoring record with 77 points in a single game.
Because he is still so young, Williams doesn’t have a rating from 247Sports or Rivals. However, Josh Gershon of 247Sports praised him for being a “high-level athlete who is an explosive finisher.”
ESPN grades him as a five-star and the third prospect in the class of 2023.
There’s a long way to go in Williams’ recruitment, but his decision to include USC in his Top 10 is a sign of how strong Trojan recruiting has become under Andy Enfield and staff.
