USC football’s 2020 recruiting class added another big-bodied offensive line on Wednesday night with the pledge of offensive tackle Caadyn Stephen.

The Camas, Washiington product took to Twitter to announce his commitment.

“First and foremost I want to thank my Lord and Savior for belssing me with my size and athleticism to equip me for where I am today,” Stephen wrote, going on to thank his family, the coaches who have recruited him and his high school coaches. “To continue my football and academic journey I am proud to announce that I am committed to the University of Southern California.”

Stephen took an official visit to USC over the weekend and wasted little time locking in his pledge. He had received a scholarship offer from USC back at the end of May. He also held offers from Arizona, Cal and Washington State among others. While he unofficially visited Washington last Fall, he does not appear to have an offer from the Huskies.

He is the latest offensive lineman to join the 2020 class for USC, which has seen an emphasis on the trenches. Along with Stephen, the Trojans have six offensive line commitments for the cycle. Ranked 607th nationally by 247Sports, Stephen is the second-highest rated line pledge in that group.

Quantity is important for USC’s offensive line group, even if the quality of recruits could be better. The Trojans will see offensive tackles Clayton Bradley and Drew Richmond graduate after this season, while guard Jacob Daniel will also depart. Starters like Austin Jackson, Andrew Vorhees, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Jalen McKenzie and Brett Neilon will all be eligible for early entry into the NFL by the end of the season as well.

Stephen fits the profile of lineman USC has targeted, specifically with an eye towards transitioning to the Air Raid offense. Wingspan is important at tackle for the system and Stephen certainly boasts that a 6-foot-5, 295-pounds.

USC now has 12 commitments on board with the 2019 season freshly begun. Headlining that group are two four-star prospects, quarterback Bryce Young and wide receiver Josh Jackson.
