USC football lost another cornerback on Wednesday with the reported transfer of freshman Trey Davis, who had signed with the Trojans in the 2019 recruiting class.
Three-star cornerback Trey Davis has entered the transfer portal and intends to leave USC football after just a month of enrollment, according to Chris Trevino of USCFootball.com.
The report came down on Wednesday, just a few days after it was revealed that JUCO cornerback Jaylen Watson would not be enrolling with the Trojans because of academics.

Davis was a speedster coming out of Federal Way High School in Washington. He ranked No. 1,277 in the 247Sports composite, standing 125th among corners in the class of 2019.
It’s not clear what has driven Davis to seek a transfer so soon after joining the Trojans. He had committed to former defensive backs coach Ronnie Bradford, so it is possible he didn’t fit as well in the plans of new assistant Greg Burns.
Davis was a member of USC’s 2019 recruiting class which featured as many as nine defensive back additions. With Davis and Watson out of the picture, the haul has certainly been trimmed, but it still served the purpose the Trojans were hoping as they looked to reload after a handful of graduations in the secondary.

There is even less concern about Davis’ departure because of the addition of four-star cornerback Chris Steele, who transferred to USC this summer after spending the spring with Florida.
USC has lost seven players to the transfer portal from last year’s squad. Receivers Trevon Sidney and Josh Imatorbhebhe ended up at Illinois along with linebacker Oluwole Betiku. Receiver Randal Grimes went to UNLV and linebacker Levi Jones landed at NC State. Safety Bubba Bolden moved to Miami, but Ykili Ross is still without a new home.
The sheer number of departures is undercut by the victories USC has achieved in the transfer portal this year as well. The Trojans brought in Steele and were able to re-enroll wide receiver Bru McCoy. They also picked up Tennessee offensive lineman Drew Richmond. Meanwhile, players like cornerback Greg Johnson, receiver Velus Jones Jr., linebacker Hunter Echols and quarterback Matt Fink considered transfers but ultimately made their way back into cardinal and gold.
Time will tell where Davis ends up.
