USC football’s injury report following the Spring Showcase included updates for offensive linemen Austin Jackson, Jalen McKenzie and more.

Ranking the QBs. SPRING CAMP

It has been a couple weeks since head coach Clay Helton updated the USC football injury report, so his updates on Saturday after the Spring Showcase were many.

The Trojan offensive line was visibly changed on Saturday because of the absence of right tackle Jalen McKenzie and left tackle Austin Jackson, who also missed Thursday’s action. With backups Clayton Bradley and Bernard Schirmer unavailable, converted defensive lineman Liam Jimmons and converted guard Frank Martin stepped into the first team.

SPRING SHOWCASE NOTES: Young talent highlighted

McKenzie filled in for Jackson on Thursday on the left, but hyper-extended his elbow. He was held out of action on Saturday but is expected back next week.

Jackson should also return to the lineup for the final week of camp. He missed two days of practice while away for a family event.

Word was more shaky on Schirmer.

CHECK OUT: Five Trojans who stood out in Week 3

“He’s got a personal thing he’s dealing with,” Helton said, opening the possibility of Schirmer coming back late next week.

As for Bradley, he has sat out the entirety of the spring with a back injury and is not expected to return until Fall Camp.

The same applies to freshman tight end Jude Wolfe, whose absence because of a back problem has left the Trojans particularly thin in that position.

Matters haven’t been helped by an AC shoulder sprain for Josh Falo. He has spent the past week practicing with a yellow non-contact jersey.

Linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu was confirmed out for the remainder of spring by Helton on Saturday as well. He practiced four times before feeling soreness in the foot which kept him out of action in 2018. The Trojans opted to hold him from practice until the fall as a precaution.

At safety, Talanoa Hufanga had successful surgery to repair his broken collarbone and he should be back available over the summer, Helton said.
