USC basketball begins the final push for a place in March Madness with a battle against Arizona in the first round of the 2019 Pac-12 Tournament.

T-Mobile Arena | Las Vegas, NV12:00 p.m. PT | Pac-12 NetworkSeries: Arizona leads 67-42Last meeting: USC 80, Arizona 57 in January

The opening round of the Pac-12 Tournament features a rematch of last year’s final between No. 8-seed USC basketball and No. 9-seed Arizona.

That the two are meeting in round one demonstrates the disappointment of the 2018-19 season for both squads. Neither is in contention for an at-large NCAA tournament bid, so it all comes down to the Pac-12 crown.

The Wildcats finished their 17-14 regular season with a home loss to rival Arizona State. That capped a 3-9 run to end the campaign.

Guard Brandon Randolph is the only player in Arizona’s expected starting lineup averaging double figures this season, with 12.8 points per game. Per AZDesertSwarm.com, that’s the lowest average for a Wildcat leading scorer since the 1940s. However, in the last five games, it has been senior forward Ryan Luther leading the way on the score sheet.

Freshman guard Brandon Williams, who is still shaking off the effects of a knee injury, was Arizona’s lone representative in the Pac-12 season-ending awards, earning an honorable mention for the All-Freshman team.

The Trojans have scorers to rely on, including All-Pac-12 first teamer Bennie Boatwright and honorable mention Nick Rakocevic. However, despite the two averaging 18.1 and 14.9 points respectively this season, USC finished out the schedule on a four-game losing streak, dropping seven of their last nine games.

One big question for USC: Will Kevin Porter Jr. play. The freshman guard will be a game-time decision with a sprained ankle.

Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Pacific on the Pac-12 Network. Roxy Bernstein will be on the call, joined by analyst Don MacLean and courtside reporter Jill Savage

Jordan Moore will handle the radio broadcast on 1110AM.
