USC Twitter was ecstatic to see defensive lineman Rasheem Green join Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the NFL Draft.
Rasheem Green had to wait until the third round, but the Trojan lineman is now a Seattle Seahawk.
Seattle used the No. 79 pick overall to pick up Green, who’s upside is undeniable but it wasn’t enough to stop him sliding into the third round over concerns with a high school knee injury.
However long it took him to get there, Green is now a Seahawk.

The first reaction to the pick on Twitter was a natural one. A Trojan going to the Seahawks means a Trojan playing for former head coach Pete Carroll. The coach himself highlighted that in his chat with the lineman as he was informed of the pick.

USC DL Rasheem Green to Seahawks. Carroll must have talked to Udeze about this.

Pete Carroll hadn’t drafted a USC player since 2011.

Green is the first Pete Carroll draftee from USC since the Seahawks picked Malcolm Smith in the seventh round in 2011.
Carroll connection or not, Green’s teammates past and present from USC were quick to give their congratulations.
Let’s go Sheem! @ras_green ??

Seahawks fans were given plenty of reason to be enthusiastic over the Green pick when it was announced. Analysts immediately projected the big man as a major contributor for the team down the line, if he lives up to his potential.
USC's Rasheem Green is the versatile DL @Seahawks needed as replacement to traded Michael Bennett. Second in Pac-12 (to WSU's Mata'afa) with 10 sacks in '17. Burst & power. Just a pup at 20 years old. Ideal project for DL coach Clint Hurtt w/ big upside. My No. 43 rated player.

SEAHAWKS TAKE RASHEEM GREEN - SPEED AND POTENTIAL - YOUNG ONLY 20 YEARS OLD - FITS WHAT SEAHAWKS LOOK FOR ON DEFENSE @SkySportsNFL

Interesting that the Seahawks took Rasheem Green with the No. 79 pick. The pro player that Green reminded me of most while on the field at USC was Michael Bennett, who Seattle traded to the Eagles this offseason.

No surprise, I heard several times from the Seahawks how much they LOVE Rasheem Green. He’s a 20yr old manimal with immense physical gifts.@USC_Athletics @Pac12Network #NFLDraft #DraftDay pic.twitter.com/CUQi5fH5rO

Love the Rasheem Green pick for Seattle.

Had been on the 49ers radar, too.
I’m surprised it took this long for a team to grab Rasheem Green. His 10 sacks in 2017 ranked just outside the top-10 nationally and he would’ve been more productive as strictly a defensive end.

Green has big shoes to fill as a potential replacement for Michael Bennett. His first steps in those shoes begin now.
