Uchenna Nwosu won’t have to travel far to pursue his NFL dreams after the Los Angeles Chargers picked him up in the draft. How’d social media react to the pick?
There was always a good chance that the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft would be an active one for USC Football.
Shortly after running back Ronald Jones II was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers early on Day 2, Uchenna Nwosu joined the party.
The Los Angeles Chargers made the USC linebacker their second round choice on Friday evening, keeping him in Southern California for the foreseeable future.

The All-American is staying home to play for the Bolts. ⚡️⚡️⚡️#NFLDraft | #USCtotheNFL pic.twitter.com/qTKbDJZrtA
The biggest storyline from Nwosu’s new NFL home is how close to home it is. Nwosu went to high school at Narbonne, went to college at USC and will now play pro football with the Chargers in LA.
Uchenna Nwosu grew up in Carson. His high school, Narbonne, is 7 miles from StubHub Center and 17 miles from USC. Not many people can go from childhood to the NFL and not even need a car.

Uchenna Nwosu staying home and playing NFL games a couple miles from Narbonne is seriously the coolest thing ever.

He'll be an enormous role model in the community.
USC’s Uchenna Nwosu stays home. Went to HS not too far from where the Chargers play. Was a beast when I covered his prep days and got even better.

Uchena Nwosu is a great story, committed to #USC when Orgeron was interim head coach, under the radar kid not many knew outside of the SoCal area, developed in to a heck of a player

“I was hoping for the right fit” - Uchenna Nwosu is very excited for the chance to play close to home.

Of course, Nwosu’s teammates jumped all over the opportunity to congratulate the linebacker. In particular, Chargers’ linebacker Hayes Pullard had good reason to be pumped up by the pick.
