There’s good news and bad news for USC Basketball as they prepare to take on the Oregon State Beavers at the Galen Center on Saturday.
The good news is the Trojans reversed a three-game losing streak with a last-second alley-oop to beat Oregon on Thursday. That critical win kept USC in second place in the Pac-12 and added a much-needed boost to their tournament hopes.
The bad news is they’ll have to go the rest of the way without star forward Bennie Boatwright, who suffered a partial patella tear in his left knee late against the Ducks. The Trojans’ second-leading scorer has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Oregon State will hope to take advantage of that missing piece.
The Beavers are led by forward Tres Tinkle’s 18.2 points per game, along with 16.4 from guard Stephen Thomson Jr.
Coming off of a loss to UCLA, 75-68, Oregon State has yet to win on the road in the Pac-12, but they have managed to keep road games close, never losing by double-digits.
Can the Trojans complete the sweep in the season series against the Oregon teams for the first time since 2008? Or will the Beavers pick up their first win in conference on the road?
Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m. PT and will be aired live on FS1. Tim Brando is on play-by-play with Doug Gottlieb providing color commentary.
A local radio broadcast can be heard on ESPNLA 710 with Chris Fisher and Jordan Moore on the call.
