NFL Schedule 2017: When USC Alumni Return to Los Angeles
The 2017 NFL schedule is out. With two teams in Los Angeles, USC alumni will be in LA playing the Rams and Chargers often.
The Chargers moving from San Diego earlier this year means the 2017 season will be the first time LA has hosted a pair of franchises since 1994. While they opted for the StubHub Center in Carson and won’t all share USC’s iconic LA Coliseum, lots of NFL action in proximity to the Trojans can be a good thing.
Local pro football could be a recruiting tool, and it gives the Trojan family additional opportunities to see their favorite players from yesteryear.
Currently, three former USC football players reside in Los Angeles. Robert Woods and Nickell Robey-Coleman both signed with the Rams as free agents in March, while Max Tuerk will enter his second year on the Chargers’ payroll after being drafted in 2016.

But there will be 10 games in 2017 featuring visiting Trojans. And that number could grow next week following the 2017 NFL Draft.
When can fans mark their calendars to see USC alumni? Let’s run down the schedule:
Week 1 (9/10): Rams vs. Indianapolis Colts: Zach Banner
Week 2 (9/17): Rams vs. Washington Redskins: Su’a Cravens
Week 2 (9/17): Chargers vs. Miami Dolphins: T.J. McDonald
Week 3 (9/24): Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Leon McQuay III, Damien Mama
Week 4 (10/1): Chargers vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Nelson Agholor
Week 5 (10/8): Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks: George Farmer, Darreus Rogers
Week 10 (11/12): Rams vs. Houston Texans: Brian Cushing
Week 11 (11/19): Chargers vs. Buffalo Bills: Kevon Seymour
Week 13 (12/3): Chargers vs. Cleveland Browns: Randall Telfer, Cody Kessler, Marcus Martin
Week 14 (12/10): Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Nelson Agholor
Week 14 (12/10): Chargers vs. Washington Redskins: Su’a Cravens
Week 17 (12/31): Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers: Matt Barkley, Malcolm Smith
Week 17 (12/31): Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders: Isaac Whitney, Jordan Simmons
The Rams’ home game against the New Orleans Saints, along with three Chargers tilts vs. the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders will not feature any visiting USC alumni. At least for now, before the NFL Draft.

As far as the Trojans are concerned, the 2017 schedule features three weekends in which both Troy and the Rams will play at the Coliseum on back-to-back days: September 9/10, September 16/17 and October 7/8.
The most notable is September 16th and 17th, as USC gets Texas and the Rams get the Redskins. The Chargers are also home that weekend, hosting the Dolphins.
USC’s 2017 football schedule was released back in January, featuring a daunting September against Western Michigan, Stanford and Texas in the first three weeks of the season.
