Social media was alight with the news that USC basketball will be heading to the NCAA tournament as a No. 11 seed with a play-in game versus Providence.
The day started with nerves for USC basketball, as the Trojans floated on the bubble waiting to hear their fate during CBS’s Selection Sunday Show.
As it turned out, they didn’t have to wait long with their bid secured in the East Region, the first region revealed. As one of the First Four play-in games, the No. 11 seed Trojans will take on Providence on Wednesday, in a rematch of last year’s first round.
Naturally, the Trojans themselves were ecstatic on Twitter while the analysts got down to work straight away.

Not only does #USC get a rematch, they have to do it in Dayton, site of their previous heartbreak?

It's a double House of Horrors.
Tough road for USC. A win over Providence in the play-in game nets another matchup with sixth seed SMU, which finished ... 11th in KenPom.

.@USC_Hoops (24-9) is the only First Four with more than 20 wins, but a bid is a bid for the Trojans. ASU L ultimately not the death blow.

The selection committee had USC as the second-to-last team in the field, ahead of Kansas State. https://t.co/ilGmTa7WlL
