Love him or hate him, Lane Kiffin’s Twitter game following Alabama’s national title game was strong, including a pressing question from his son.
Kiffin’s team prevailed in the 45-40 instant classic over Clemson but when the offensive coordinator jumped on social media it was not to celebrate his win, but to ask the question posed by his son.
“Dad how many days till we play USC?” Kiffin’s son Knox asked his dad.
Well, Knox, the answer (as of January 12) is: 234 days until the Trojans and the Rolling Tide kick off at Jerry World aka AT&T Stadium in Arlington on September 3.
Of course the Kiffin post-game saga was actually coming to its end when he posted the picture of his son Tuesday morning.
In a twist of fate, Kiffin, who was famously fired from his post as USC by being denied a place on the team bus at LAX, was left behind by Alabama’s buses after the championship game at Phoenix Stadium.
Kiffin, who’s sense of humor might actually be underrated, used the hashtag #LeftByBus in his first tweet on Monday night after the game.
He would later tweet a picture of the jet which took him home from Arizona, which is coincidentally the last state he coached USC in before his firing.
Assuming Nick Saban and his staff stick around Alabama for 2016, Kiffin will face his old team in a season opener which is sure to produce plenty of juicy story lines. We all just have to wait a couple hundred days.
