The USC Trojans sent seven representatives to this year’s NFL combine, four of which participated in drills over the weekend.

There were no disasters or stock tumblers for the Trojans, though unfortunately none of them wow’d onlookers either.

Marqise Lee, the headliner for USC in this draft, put in decent numbers with a top five performance in the broad jump at 127 inches. His vertical jump measured in at 38 inches, which was tenth among wide outs. In the 40-yard dash he left plenty to be desired, logging a 4.52. That run was below average among receivers. He made up for that in the 20-yard shuffle, where his agility earned him a time of 4.01 and a spot in the top ten among receivers for the drill.

At running back, Silas Redd wasn’t expected to open any eyes regarding his speed and he didn’t, posting a 4.70 in the 40-yard dash. His 18 reps in the bench press were middle of the road. He managed a top 10 measure in the vertical jump at 37 inches as well as the broad jump at 122 inches.

In Saturday work outs, Xavier Grimble only participated in two drills and did little to boast his stock. His 26.5 inch vertical was the worst among tight ends. The 113 inch measure he posted in the broad jump wasn’t much better. It was the second worst at the position.

Center Marcus Martin also participated in the Saturday work outs, but only in the bench press where he failed to impress. His 23 reps were just three more than the worst performance among offensive linemen.

USC’s representatives on defense are set to work out at the Combine as the week continues. Devon Kennard and George Uko will work out with the linebackers and defensive linemen on Monday. Dion Bailey will participate with the safeties on Tuesday.
