Caleb Williams finally revealed his true feelings on new USC Football Head Coach Lincoln Riley leaving Oklahoma after the regular season to come to SC. Williams eventually chose to head to SC as well in the end, but it was certainly an unexpected turn of events for Williams at the time.

"We all found out together as a team at the old school," said Williams. "It was a little rough because I built such a good connection with him and I didn’t expect him to leave."

It makes sense. After all, Williams has always been very fond of Coach Riley. He even went as far to admitting that he was interested in walking on for him if needed. Anything to be able to play for Riley.

New USC QB Caleb Williams proved he had the right mentality to overcome the challenge in the Alamo Bowl, however.

Caleb Williams showcased great leadership qualities after Lincoln Riley departed for the better job with USC football. He was able to focus on the task at hand, and finish the season strong while they could.

"At that point, it was to be there with the guys I was with. Go win that next game that we had and that was my only focus and main goal. Just wanted to make sure the guys that weren’t going to be able to come back there or another school went out with a win. It was rough but we got through it.”"

That's the type of leader I want quarterbacking my team. He accepted the fact that Riley was deservedly offered a better job and understandably took it, moved on, and focused on getting his guys up and ready for a Bowl Game. And they played a great game in the Alamo Bowl.

OU won 47-32 on the back of Williams, who connected on 21 of his 27 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns. He also added seven carries for 34 yards. He had the right mentality for how to finish the year strong with the head coach on to bigger and better things, and led his team to a great win that resulted in the team finishing in the top 10 in the country.

Keep in mind that this was all when Williams was a true freshman. To display this level of leadership so early in a career is remarkable. There's nobody else I'd want as the signal-caller for the Trojans than our guys Williams.
