USC basketball started the season off right on Friday night, besting Montana in a hard-fought home opener, 75-61.

The Trojans are back in action tonight, hosting the University of Nebraska Obama in the first ever meeting between the two teams.

Omaha launched their 2016 season with a win on Saturday night at UC Santa Barbara, leaning on sophomore forward Mitch Hahn, who came off the bench and hit five three-point shots to lead all scorers with 15 points.

More from Reign of Troy

Along with Hahn’s scoring ability as a sixth man, the Mavericks boast a veteran line up, with four returning starters. Against Santa Barbara, Omaha received balanced contributions across the team, with guards Tra-Deon Hollins and Zach Jackson, along with forward Tre’Shawn Thurman all scoring in double-digits.

On Friday night, USC took control against Montana thanks to scoring bursts from returning shooting guard Elijah Stewart and debuting transfer Shaqquan Aaron on the wing. Stewart scored a career-high 30 points while Aaron added 17.

The big question for USC going into Sunday night is the status of sophomore Bennie Boatwright. One of the Trojans most capable scorers, Boatwright missed the season opener due to back spasm and is considered a game-time decision to take the court against Omaha.
