AP Top 25 Week 10: USC Football Just Shy Of Ranking
USC football received votes in the Week 10 AP Top 25, putting the Trojan at No. 27 in the country as they head into November with the chance to earn a ranking.
Fresh off their fourth win four games, USC football is now votes shy of jumping back into the AP Top 25 for the first time this season.
Though they have yet to break in completely, USC is the second team receiving votes with 40 behind Houston’s 65.
The Trojans were ranked No. 20 in the preseason poll but tumbled out after their blowout loss to Alabama on opening weekend.
With losses to Stanford and Utah in September dropping USC to 1-3, the process of returning to the rankings was bound to take some time.
Since the start of October, the Trojans have done everything in their power to make their case.
With new starter Sam Darnold at quarterback for his second start, USC blasted ASU, 41-20 at the Coliseum to start the month then downed No. 21 Colorado for their first quality win of the season in an impressive but tight 21-17 victory.
Traveling to Tucson, the Trojans handled Arizona easily, 48-14. Back at home on Thursday, the men of Troy dispatched Cal 45-24 for their fourth consecutive victory.

Next up, USC faces Oregon for Homecoming at the Coliseum with a shot at moving to 6-3 on the season. Should the Trojans take care of business against the Ducks, voters could reward them with a ranking ahead of the pivotal trip to Seattle for a date with No. 4 Washington.
Along with the Huskies, the Pac-12 has four teams ranked in the Top 25 this week. Utah checks in at No. 16, moving up one spot from No. 17 after losing to Washington in a close game.
Colorado was on a bye this weekend but moved up from No. 23 to No. 21.
Meanwhile, Washington State climbed into the poll at No. 25 following their closer-than-expected comeback win over Oregon State at Reser Stadium.
