Game-by-game prediction for USC football at Stanford: W--USC 38, Stanford 28

USC football has the strangest dynamic with the Stanford Cardinal. Those games never make sense. Just look at the last two times SC played them. In 2019, Stanford was expected to be the better team, and the Trojans came into the game unranked. They also began the game down 17-3 in the second quarter. SC, however, went on to rout them 45-20 with their backup quarterback.

The next time was last year. Stanford was BAD. In fact, they ended up somehow being worse than USC last year; going 3-9. The weirdest part, though? One of those THREE wins was against USC. And it was against USC in the Coliseum. And it was decided by 16 points--it wasn't even a close game. To top it all off, USC fired their head coach after the game.

Nobody loves gearing up to beat USC more than Stanford Head Coach David Shaw. The fact of the matter is, he always seems to know how. He batters USC on the lines of scrimmage, and exploits USC's run defense whenever SC is lacking in the front seven. This is a year where USC is lacking in the front seven again.

Look--Stanford likely isn't going to beat USC this year. They have holes up and down their roster and USC's offense is a massive force to be reckoned with. Don't be surprised, however, if the Cardinal make the Cardinal and Gold earn it in Week 2 up in Stanford Stadium.

Projected 2022 Record: 2-0
