Boogie Ellis was an All-Pac 12 honorable mention last season for USC basketball. He proved to be a major gain in the transfer portal last offseason, as he came over from Memphis and immediately made big impacts on this USC basketball squad.

Scoring 12.5 points per game, he shot 41.7% from the field, which is impressive for a point guard. He also shot 37.6% from beyond the three-point line, welcoming himself to Power 5 basketball in exciting fashion. He came back to make sure he was fully prepped for the NBA Draft, and he's bound to take another step forward this season.

To take that step forward, there are a few clear goals he should be shooting for. He's already on his way to hitting many notable goals that he likely set last offseason when he moved out to L.A., but there are other steps he can take to get his game to the next level. Starting with something the whole team struggled with, he has a chance to lead by example in a key area:

No. 3 goal for USC Basketball G Boogie Ellis next season: Shoot 90% from the free throw line

Boogie Ellis was FAR from the worst free-throw shooter on the USC basketball team last year. Nobody was a good shooter from the stripe, and that gives Ellis a chance to get out front this year. SC is going to need Ellis on the floor in clutch time, and therefore he needs to push himself to lead by example on the line.

Ellis shot 79.8% from the free throw line this season. That isn't bad, but his NBA dreams will become realer and realer if he could grab the bull by the horns and be the free throw shooter this team can count on.

Don't think it's attainable for him to improve 10.2%? Maybe think again. Ellis improved 14.1% from the 2020-2021 season to the 2021-2022 season. All he needs to do is just continue making the progress that he's already making.
