The long-awaited return of EA Sports College Football has finally been announced sparking celebrations across the CFB and USC football landscape.
It's been over a decade since a Trojan last graced the cover of the beloved video game franchise. That was Mark Sanchez on the PSP version of NCAA Football 09.
Reggie Bush was the last full-fledged Trojan cover athlete. He appeared on NCAA Football 07. Before that it was Carson Palmer on NCAA Football 2004.
Now that the game is coming back, which USC football stars could be the next to join that rare air?
1. Kedon Slovis
Realistically, the upcoming edition of EA Sports College Football won't arrive until 2022 at the earliest. If the wait is that short, then it would be just in time for the franchise to tab Kedon Slovis as their first cover athlete.
Slovis would have some serious competition at the quarterback position alone, but he's the face of USC's program right now. If he were to lead the Trojans to the College Football Playoff and contend for the Heisman Trophy, he would absolutely warrant cover athlete status.
He's not far off it. In 2019 he proved he could put up absolutely huge numbers with and rain down touchdowns. The 2020 season was more of a struggle at times, but he showed a serious clutch gene by leading USC to late comebacks. Those are the moments that build a Heisman campaign. He has to combine the overall productivity of his freshman year with the massive moments of his sophomore campaign.
