Four-star defensive tackle Tuli Letuligasenoa flipped his commitment from USC to Washington on Monday, dealing the Trojans a blow ahead of Signing Day 2018.

What goes around comes around, apparently.

A year after USC pulled off a major coup, flipping Marlon Tuipulotu from Washington on the eve of Signing Day, the Huskies turned around and did the same to the Trojans with Tuli Letuligasenoa.

The four-star defensive tackle, who had been committed to the Trojans since April, committed to Washington on Monday night, per Scott Eklund of Dawgman.com.

Rated as the No. 8 defensive tackle in the class and No. 105 nationally, Letuligasenoa was a major addition for USC’s defensive line going into 2018. However, Washington was able to secure his commitment during his official visit to Seattle this weekend.

Seeing the De La Salle star end up with a Pac-12 rival is an unfortunate development for the Trojans. If there’s comfort to be had, it’s that USC did well to strengthen the defensive line in 2017, adding Tuipulotu, Jay Tufele and Brandon Pili to restock the shelf.

More from Reign of Troy

On top of that, Letuligasenoa was not the only defensive lineman in the 2018 haul. USC already signed four-star junior college transfer Caleb Tremblay in December, while four-star defensive tackle Trevor Trout is expected to sign his letter of intent on Wednesday.

Without Letuligasenoa, USC’s 2018 class now numbers just 13, with 10 signees already locked in and three commitments from Trout, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and quarterback JT Daniels.

The lead up to Signing Day may have featured a prominent defector, but major additions are expected on Wednesday as well, with five-star cornerback Olaijah Griffin, four-star cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart, four-star linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu and several others set to announce their college decisions.
