History of the USC Football Helmet

1955: Diamonds Are For One Season
Both argyle and diamonds have a proud history within USC football, as the end zones at the Coliseum were adorned with them for decades.
But in 1955, the Trojans took the field with a gold diamond on their helmets along with a gold stripe. They were both simple and effective, though they only lasted for one season. It truth, it was the first of three successive seasons that USC wore new helmets.
As for those ’55 Trojans? They won six games, finishing sixth in the Pacific Coast Conference despite beating a pair of top 10 teams.
