Former Trojan to Play With Nets

By FanSided Staff

Former Trojan Gabe Pruitt will play with the New Jersey Nets’ Summer League team this year, hoping to get another shot at an NBA roster.

"New Jersey Nets first round draft picks Derrick Favors and Damion James, along with second year player Terrence Williams, headline the Nets’ 2010 summer league squad which will participate in the AirTran Airways Pro Summer League in Orlando, Florida, being held from July 5 through July 9. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.— Prior to the start of the games, the Nets will hold a four-day training camp at the PNY Center in East Rutherford, NJ from Thursday, July 1 thru Sunday, July 4.  Media availability will follow the morning practices."

Pruitt hopes to secure a chance to have some impact in the NBA with the Nets. After being drafted 32nd overall by the Celtics in the 2007 draft, Pruitt has been largely ineffective at the professional level.

In two seasons with the Celtics, Pruitt averaged just 2 points in 7.4 minutes a game. Now that the Nets have cut Keyon Dooling, they’ll be looking for a backup point guard for Devin Harris. If he plays well with the summer squad, he might just get some minutes in New Jersey this season.
