A woman–choosing to identify herself only as Jane Doe–has filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Philadelphia 76ers and former Trojan basketball player Nick Young, whom she claims drugged her at a West Hollywood Bar and later had non-consensual with her according to the LA Daily News.

The woman has also named the Crown Bar in the lawsuit. Her allegations include sexual battery and false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

According to the plaintiff, she and a friend were at the Crown Bar on Aug. 12, 2011, when Young approached them and offered them drinks. The plaintiff said in her suit that she knew Young from two prior meetings.

“Plaintiff accepted and consumed a champagne beverage that had been offered to her by … Young,” who paid for the drink with a credit card, the suit alleges.

After having that drink, Jane Doe claims to not remember what happened the rest of the evening, but believes she was taken by Young to his apartment, where he had sex with her.

According to the LA Daily News, the following things happened in the days after the alleged incident:

When the plaintiff awoke and asked Young why the two of them were naked in his apartment, he replied that the two began having sex the previous night but that they stopped after she passed out, according to the suit, which says Young complied when the woman demanded that he take her home.
Subsequent tests confirmed that she was given GHB, according to the suit, which says she also underwent exams at the UCLA Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center that revealed anal and rectal bleeding.

In addition, the woman has undergone psychiatric evaluations and treatment, according to the suit, which alleges that Crown Bar employees failed to provide enough security and to properly monitor the behavior of guests.

Neither Young nor the 76ers have issued a statement addressing the suit as of Tuesday night.

Zach Banner just completed his first year at USC, where he pulled double-duty as a football and basketball player. After trying his hand at being a two-sport athlete, the redshirt freshman has made a career decision to focus solely on football for the duration of his career in Troy.

The two-time high school All-American was the No. 2 offensive tackle in his recruiting class, and on the hardwood, he led his Lakes High School (Washington) basketball team to a state championship.

Banner took to Twitter on Tuesday however to announce his devotion solely to football, including a photo college of himself on National Signing Day, as well as one of him in a USC basketball uniform.

As of today I will no longer play basketball for USC. I made a personal decision that it would be… instagram.com/p/ZUGLqKljhq/

— Zach Banner (@FOE_ZB73) May 15, 2013

On Instagram where the photo is hosted, Banner continued to say, “I made a personal decision that it would be better if I focused on one Football after red shirting last year, and having only a certain amount of time left in college to get myself ready for the next level…”

He then went on to say that his main focus is getting on the field as soon as he can, because he ultimately dreams of pursuing a career in the NFL. Banner also made it clear that this decision was his, and not influenced by anyone.

“This wasn’t a decision by coaches, nor was it anyone else. It was mine alone,” he wrote.

Banner concluded the post saying that he is grateful to have had the opportunity to play basketball and football at the school of his choice, but that going forward, he will spend the remainder of his athletic career in Troy on the gridiron.

While the men’s basketball schedule looks like a mirage with USC football dominating the headlines over summer, the Trojans have announced a marquee tournament for their 2013-2014 non-conference schedule.

The Trojans made one big splash this offseason, signing Andy Enfield fresh off a trip to the Sweet 16 with the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. Now, the men’s basketball squad has secured a bid to participate in the “Battle for Atlantis” non-conference tournament, which awards schools $2 million for their participation in the event.

Apr 13, 2013; Los Angeles, CA, USA; Southern California Trojans basketball coach Andy Enfield attends the spring game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The tournament will take place from November 27th-December 1st on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The field will feature Kansas, who is coming off huge news after signing the nation’s top recruit Andrew Wiggins. Tennessee, Villanova, Xavier, Iowa, Wake Forest are among the other participants in this years bracket.

The most intriguing matchup however, would square the Enfield’s-led Trojans against a former coach of USC, and head man who expressed interest in running the program this spring, in Tim Floyd and his UTEP Minors.

The Trojans took part in the Maui Invitational as their marquee tournament last season, under the direction of former head coach Kevin O’Neill. They finished the Hawaiian getaway 1-2, punctuated with a humiliating 30-point loss in the opening game versus Illinois.

Following the thumping loss at the hands of the Illini, the Trojans responded by defeating Texas in OT, fueled by key points late from Dewayne Dedmon. In the final game of the tournament, the Trojans battled the eventual Elite-Eight participant Marquette, losing by eight points. JT Terrell led all scorers in that contest with 21 points, in what is considered his best game under Kevin O’Neill.

This year’s club returns three starters in Byron Wesley, JT Terrell and Omar Oraby with role players Ari Stewart and Chass Bryan looking to increase their role this season. Rest assured that the diligent Andy Enfield is already preparing game plans for the Bahama Tournament.

Battle for Atlantis has traditionally featured a fair share of power house teams with top-ten rankings. Last season, Duke defeated eventual national champion Louisville 76-71 in the final. USC foes Stanford and Minnesota also participated in the tournament, finishing 5th and 6th respectively. The Atlantis ties to Enfield are also quite intriguing, as the Florida Gulf Eagles won the “Mainland Bracket” defeating Toledo 72-66 in the November 22nd National Championship Game.

The Be7ieve offense will be on full display this summer, with national tournaments like the Battle For Atlantis as barometers for the Trojans hopes as an NIT or NCAA contender. The biggest question this offeseason is whether the Trojans committed recruits, Julian Jacobs, Roschon Prince, Nikola Jovanovic and Kahlil Dukes can provide some intangibles for a basketball team looking to build an identity for next season.
