There are officially 100 days until USC football kicks off with the season opener against Fresno State and the Trojans marked the occasion on social media.

Throwback. Noblest Trojan of Them All

USC football is only 100 days away. Or still 100 days away, depending on your perspective on how long it will take for the 2019 season to arrive.

The seconds in next three months will tick away at varying speeds. For the rest of May and June, the countdown may feel particularly slow with little to occupy the mind. Anticipation will certainly rise in July but momentum will really pick up in August when Fall Camp arrives.

The 2019 countdown to kickoff carries with it an extra touch of bitter sweet. The promise of a new season is always exciting, but remembering the sting of last year’s 5-7 record definitely puts a damper on hopes for the coming campaign.

The Trojans themselves aren’t giving into that pessimism though. USC players on social media were all positive on Thursday as the offseason hit the 100-day mark.

Here’s how the Trojans celebrated the beginning of the countdown to kickoff on Twitter:

Junior tight end Josh Falo:

The 2019 season will kickoff on Saturday, August 31 against Fresno State at the Coliseum.

Though a Group of Five opponent, the Bulldogs figure to present quite the challenge to Clay Helton and company. They finished the 2018 season with a 12-2 record, the most wins in school history, and a Mountain West championship in Jeff Tedford’s second year in charge.

Taking Fresno State lightly could spell doom for the Trojans in what looks like a daunting opening stretch of the season.

After the Bulldogs, USC can look forward to dates with Stanford, BYU, Utah and Washington before a bye week breather ahead of the annual rivalry clash with Notre Dame.

No wins are guaranteed in that slate, not even the first one, now 100 days away.
