USC vs Washington Odds: Trojans Open As Touchdown Underdogs

Oddsmakers have set the line for USC vs Washington at just over seven points to start the week, making the Trojans an underdog for the first time since September.

After enjoying five weeks as a favorite — and more than justifying that tag in all but one of five wins — USC returns to the land of the underdog as they get set to face highly-ranked Washington in Seattle.

The opening line was set at 7.5 in favor of the Huskies on Sunday morning, per VegasInsider.com.

USC is 0-3 in games as an underdog this season, failing to cover the spread in any of those contests.

To open the year, Alabama enjoyed a 13.5-point spread over the Trojans and won by 46 points. Two weeks later USC was a 7.5 underdog to Stanford and fell by a margin of 17. In the final week of September, the men of Troy fell to 1-3 after a four-point loss to the Utah Utes, who were favored by three points.

This time around, however, the Trojans are playing their best football to date. They have won five-straight games by an average margin of 21 points. The outlier among those was a 21-17 win over Colorado at the Coliseum — the only game USC failed to cover the spread as a favorite this season.

On Saturday, the Trojans gave Oregon no quarter at the Coliseum, besting the 16.5-point underdogs 45-20.

Washington is a perfect 9-0 in 2016 and ranked among the top outfits in college football. They’re only 5-4 against the spread however, failing to cover wide margins over Portland State, Arizona, Oregon State and Utah.

This 7.5 spread is the second lowest spread set for the Huskies all season though, and the first single-digit spread since Washington was favored by just 3.5 over Stanford.

Late Saturday night, Chris Petersen’s squad made their case for a spot in the bracket for the latest ranking of the College Football Playoff committee by blowing by Cal 66-27 in Berkeley.
