Four-star cornerback Jaylon Johnson announced his Top 7 on Twitter Friday night, naming USC football among his favorites.

USC football’s pursuit of the next generation of defensive backs continued Friday night as Fresno cornerback Jaylon Johnson narrowed his list to a Top 7, including the Trojans.

“Thank God for continuing to show me the way,” Johnson wrote on Twitter. “Still open and changes can still be made in my decision.”

Along with USC, Johnson named Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Utah, Georgia and Oklahoma among his top schools.

The 6-foot-1, 180 pound prospect is considered the No. 11 cornerback in the class of 2017, according to the 247 Sports composite. He checks in as the 11th best player in California and the 89th best in the nation.

The 247 Sports Crystal Ball experts give USC the edge in predictions of where Johnson will ultimately sign.

USC’s 2017 recruiting class is currently nine strong but there are no cornerbacks among that number.

The Trojans have done a stellar job recruiting the position lately though, with top recruits Adoree’ Jackson, Iman Marshall and Jack Jones choosing USC in consecutive classes.

Adding a physical defender like Johnson would be a nice boost for Clancy Pendergast’s defense moving forward.

For now, the Trojans boast commitments from running back Stephen Carr, center Brett Neilon, tackle Andrew Vorhees, wide receiver Marlon Williams, tight end Erik Krommenhoek, athlete Randal Grimes, safety C.J. Miller and linebackers Juliano Falaniko and Daniel Green.
