The USC Trojans were voted as the No. 14 in the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll after the week one drubbing of the Fresno State Bulldogs, 52-13. They jump up one spot from their preseason ranking at No. 15.
The Trojans were impressive in the win over Fresno State, but their improvement in the poll seems more related to Wisconsin’s loss over the weekend to No. 12 LSU.
UCLA tumbled from the No. 7 spot during preseason to No. 11 after their shaky victory over Virginia, while USC’s next opponent, the Stanford Cardinal, vacated that preseason position to move into the top ten.
Notre Dame trails USC in the poll at No. 15. They began the year at No. 17, then blew out Rice in the opener.
Elsewhere in the Pac-12, Oregon checked in once more at No. 4, receiving two first-place votes following their 62-13 dismantling of South Dakota. They face No. 16 Michigan State this weekend.
Arizona State jumped three spots from No. 19 in the preseason to No. 16. They bested Weber State on Friday.
Finally, Washington still received votes but fell out of the No. 25 position after struggling mightily against Hawai’i in Chris Petersen’s debut as head coach.
Others from the Pac-12 receiving votes include Arizona and Oregon State.
USC plays Stanford this coming weekend in the first Pac-12 tilt for both squads.
