USC moved up to No. 14 in the Associated Press College Football Top 25, a one spot improvement from No. 15 in the preseason rankings.
The Trojans romped to a 52-13 victory over Fresno State Saturday in a repeat of the 2013 Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl, a performance which will give future opponents reason to worry.
In the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll, which was released earlier Tuesday, USC also occupies the No. 14 position.
With Wisconsin and South Carolina falling down in their season openers, the Trojans had the opportunity to move two spaces, if not for the meteoric rise of Texas A&M who catapulted 12 spots from No. 21 to No. 9.
USC’s next opponent, Stanford, dropped from the No. 11 spot to No. 13 despite a blow out victory over UC Davis. The Cardinal moved up from No. 11 to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll.
UCLA similarly slid after a victory, albeit an unimpressive one over Virginia. Having started out at No. 7, the Bruins now sit at No. 11.
Another rival, Notre Dame, rose a spot from No. 17 to No. 16. The Irish looked strong in their opener versus Rice.
Oregon remains at No. 3 following their lopsided win over FCS North Dakota. Meanwhile Arizona State shifted up to No. 17. They started the season ranked No. 19.
Washington dropped out of the poll where they sat No. 25 in preseason after an unconvincing win over Hawai’i.
