Former USC wide receiver Marqise Lee is off the mark in the NFL, as the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie secured his first touchdown reception in a preseason game on Thursday night against the Chicago Bears.
Lee caught the six-yard touchdown on an out route, which was thrown from former Michigan quarterback Chad Henne. On the Jaguars first drive, Lee made his first two professional catches, including a 10-yard gain that picked up a first down.
Lee did not record a statistic in his first preseason game last Friday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, despite being on the field for 16 plays.
In the first half with the first team offense on Thursday night, Lee finished with four receptions for 27 receiving yards to go with his first quarter touchdown catch.
Lee was drafted by the Jaguars in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, after a college career at USC that saw him own at least a share of 24 school records, including the all-time mark in reception yards with 3,655.
With 248 career catches, Lee just missed out on former teammate Robert Woods’s receptions record by just four. He ranks fourth all-time in the Pac-12 in both categories.
