Steve Sarkisian’s USC Trojans picked up their second quarterback commitment of the 2015 class, as three-star quarterback Sam Darnold of Sam Clemente verbally pledged to Troy on Friday afternoon. Scout’s Greg Biggins had the news.

“I always dreamed about being a Trojan,” Darnold told Biggins. “But that’s not why I committed, it was the smartest decision for me as well.”
Darnold, a dual threat quarterback, appears set to join what is now a really deep quarterback corps at USC next year.
The group has already included incumbent Cody Kessler, challenger Max Browne, dual threat option Jalen Greene and fellow 2015 passer Ricky Town. Now add Darnold.
In just seven months on the job, Sarkisian has made it clear that he’s not shying away from quarterback competitions, in addition to the new wrinkle that of dual threat capabilities that Greene and Darnold bring.
Darnold attended last week’s The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. and impressed recruiting analysts at the Elite 11. He winds up choosing USC over the likes of Utah, Duke and Northwestern.
The Trojans now have 12 commitments to the 2015 class, putting Sarkisian just about half way to filling his allotment of 25 scholarships. With Darnold and Town in tow, you’d imagine that the Trojans are done quarterbacks.
