Demetrius Wright Signs with Miami Dolphins as Undrafted Free Agent


Former USC Trojan Demetrius Wright has signed with the Miami Dolphins, the safety posted on Twitter Saturday.

Wright started 11 games for USC at safety in his four year career. As a Trojan he totaled 87 tackles and three deflections.

After three years as a reserve safety and special teams contributor, Wright emerged in his senior season. With Josh Shaw moved to cornerback and Dion Bailey filling the nickel back role, Wright started all but three games in 2013 as a free safety. In his first start, he led the Trojans with seven tackles against Boston College.

Following the 2013 season he earned an invitation tot he NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Wright joins Dion Bailey as the second Trojan to sign a free agent contract. Marqise Lee and Marcus Martin were both selected over the course of the draft — Lee in the second round to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Martin in the third round to the San Francisco 49ers.

In a bit of a surprise, underclassmen declarees George Uko and Xavier Grimble went undrafted. Neither have announced signing as free agents yet.

Former Trojan Damian Williams also plays for the Dolphins at wide receiver.
