It might not be USC’s most prolific showing at the 2014 NFL Draft, but the Trojans will be well-represented in New York City on May 8 with the news that Marcus Martin will join teammate Marqise Lee for the draft festivities at Radio City Music Hall.

Martin declared for the draft after a season as the starting center in 2013, despite one year of eligibility remaining. In that year, he collected his share of honors, named to the All-Pac-12 first team ESPN.com’s All-Pac-12 first team, as well as Athlon and Phil Steele’s All-Pac-12 second teams. In three years at USC, he started 33 games, the majority of which came at left guard.
CBS Sports and NFLdraftscout.com have ranked Martin as the second center available. He is projected to be taken in the second or third rounds, meaning he will likely have to wait until Friday for his name to be called. However, there has been speculation that interest from the New Orleans Saints could result in him sneaking into the first round.
With Lee’s stock slipping, Martin may very well surprise everyone by being the first Trojan taken this year.
