There will be a new look for at least two Trojans on the football field, as Chris Hawkins and Darreus Rogers have changed their numbers to #4 and #1, respectively. According to reports, the new numbers for Hawkins and Rogers were numbers that they had to compete for during spring practice.
Both players have earned their numbers for their impressive performances they have displayed all spring. Previously, Devon Flournoy had the jersey #1 before it was stripped from him by Lane Kiffin. Most notably, #1 was worn by All-American receiver Mike Williams.
Head Coach Sarkisian has dished out many of USC’s legendary numbers, after returning to the Trojans. However, a questionable choice was made by Sarkisian when he gave Toa Lobendahn the number #55, a number that was made famous by stud linebackers.
All-American linebacker, Willie McGinest, disagreed with the number that was given to Lobendahn, during an interview at the spring game last week. However, it is rumored that Lobendahn will be given #54, a number that he originally requested.
Watch for Hawkins, Rogers, and Loabendahn don their new numbers and be key contributors this upcoming 2014 season.
