USC Basketball: Byron Wesley To Transfer

Byron Wesley has decided to transfer from USC this summer, the junior guard announced on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

Wesley, widely considered the Trojan’s best returning player, will graduate this May, meaning he can transfer and play immediately as he pursues a graduate degree.

The loss is a big one for Andy Enfield, who loses a major veteran presence in the 6’5 Wesley. USC was already facing the daunting task of replacing seniors Pe’Shon Howard, J.T. Terrell and Omar Oraby.

Though the transfer news comes as a surprise, Wesley was not without his problems. Suspended for violating team rules in February, he missed out on games against Stanford and Cal. Despite his efforts, leading the Trojans in scoring and rebound, USC finished the season with a disappointing 11-21 record, with just two wins in the Pac-12.
