Focus has quickly shifted to 2015 recruiting with 2014 National Signing Day now two weeks old. On Tuesday, Scout released their team recruiting rankings, which has USC currently sitting at No. 20.
The Trojans have three 2015 verbal commits — cornerback Taeon Mason (Pasadena, Calif./Muir), and quarterbacks David Sills (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian Academy) and Ricky Town (Ventura, Calif./St. Bonaventure).
According to Scout, Town is the No. 1 quarterback in the class, ahead of Josh Rosen (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco), who they have at No. 2. Rosen and Town are often listed as the top-two 2015 quarterbacks but their order fluctuates, depending on the recruiting service.
Dominating Scout’s rankings is the SEC, with six teams from the conference holding a spot in the top-10, including No. 1 through No. 5. The Big 12 and Big Ten each have five teams ranked in the top-25, and the Trojans are one of just three Pac-12 teams to make the cut.
At No. 20, the Trojans are sandwiched between conference foes No. 14 UCLA and No. 22 Stanford. Scout breakdowns the Trojans’ three commits as one five-star and two three-star. They have the Bruins three commitments coming from a five-star, four-star and three-star. As for the Cardinal, Scout lists both of their commitments from four-stars.
While the early rankings provide an idea of where teams currently sit, they are far from set in stone and with 25 scholarships available for 2015, the Trojans should be able to finish with another top-15 class.
