USC Football: Could Trojans Be Planning Series With TCU?

Could the USC Trojans be planning a deal to play TCU in the coming years? That’s the speculation that flew around with the news that USC athletic director Pat Haden visited the Horn Frogs’ campus today (via Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News)

Texas Christian University athletic director Chris Del Conte tweeted that he spent this morning with USC athletic director Pat Haden and gave him a tour of the school’s academic services center.

Hopefully, TCU football coach Gary Patterson was there too. Might be a good nonconference game down road.

The Trojans have home and homes with several top programs coming up in the next few years. The biggest of those is the series with Texas planned for 2017 and 2018. BYU will feature on the schedule in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Also scheduled for 2021 is a match up with Tennessee.

There are holes in the out of conference schedule in 2016 and beyond that need to be filled.

TCU and USC have played five times in the schools’ history. The most recent match up was in 1998 when the Horned Frogs beat the Trojans 28-19 in the Sun Bowl. Though USC won the first meeting in 1951, TCU owns the series record with three wins to USC’s two.
