USC open and closed 2014 National Signing Day with one commitment after the other.
Perhaps in the driver’s seat of the Trojans’ recruiting caravan was wide receivers coach and ace recruiter, Tee Martin. In recognition of Martin’s hard work, 247 Sports ranks Martin as the No. 2 recruiter in the nation and No. 1 in the Pac-12.
Martin is responsible for 11 of the Trojans’ 19 commits; two five-stars, three four-stars and five three-stars. Martin’s marquee commits in the 2014 recruiting cycle include the coveted trio of Adoree’ Jackson, Damien Mama and Juju Smith.
Martin joined the Trojan coaching staff in 2012 and was a key holdover by Steve Sarkisian. His impact on the field was seen in 2012 as he coached Marqise Lee to the Biletnikoff Award. Lee set Pac-12 records in 2012 with 112 receptions and 1,680 receiving yards.
Prior to the 2013 season, Martin flirted with the idea of joining Tennessee’s coaching staff but Lane Kiffin was able to persuade the coach to remain in Los Angeles.
Roughly one year later, Steve Sarkisian greatly reaped the benefits of Martin’s presence at USC.
With Lee forgoing his senior season in favor of the 2014 NFL Draft, Martin’s next marquee receiver is Nelson Agholor.
247 Sports ranks Georgia’s running backs coach Bryan McClendon as No. 1 overall.
