St. John Bosco wide receiver Shay Fields officially decommited from USC on Twitter this morning after weeks of speculation that the Trojans had cooled their interest.
I think it’s about time for me to say that I have decommitted from USC for personal reasons

Fields, a former Boise State commit, was offered by Ed Orgeron’s staff back in October and immediately committed to join the Trojans. However, the hiring of Steve Sarkisian threw a wrench in his plans as the new staff seemed to favor other targets.
Undersized at 5-11, 160 pounds, Fields stands out with agility and shiftiness. Back in December, he told Bleacher Report that Sarkisian’s offense is his ideal situation. Instead, it looks like Fields will take his talents to Cal, Colorado or Boise State.
USC’s limited scholarship numbers have resulted in a couple of decommits this week as the Trojans look to open up spots for more coveted recruits like Adoree Jackson, Juju Smith and Damien Mama. Last week, Corona Centennial defensive lineman Austin Maloata announced that he was looking elsewhere as well.
That leaves USC with four available scholarships out of the 19 they can fill this recruiting season.
