Scout.com released their final Scout 300 Rankings for 2014 on Wednesday.
The rankings include Trojan target Adoree’ Jackson (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra), No. 6 overall and the West’s top prospect.
Also finishing in the top 10 is John “Juju” Smith (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly), who winds up at No. 10 overall.
Coveted offensive lineman Damien Mama (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) finishes ranked No. 39.
However, the player that sticks out is offensive lineman and Trojan commit Viane Talamaivao (Corona, Calif./Centennial) who moved up 52 spots, placing him at No. 90.
Talamaivao committed to the Trojans back in May of 2013 and is an important piece for Steve Sarkisian to keep in the fold.
At 6-3 and 300 pounds, Talamaivao provides a big, physical presence that would be welcomed on the embattled Trojan offensive line.
While he hasn’t spoken publicly on the matter, Talamaivao’s cousin and teammate is Austin Maloata (Corona, Calif./Centennial).
Maloata recently made headlines when he opened his recruiting while remaining “committed” to the Trojans.
Michiah Quick (Fresno, Calif./Central East) checks in at No. 48 overall, and is called one of the top two wide receivers out West by Scout’s recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman.
Huffman further went on to state Quick could just as well have an impact on the defensive side of the ball.
With National Signing Day on Feb. 5, plenty can take place between now and then.
For Sarkisian and the Trojans, the hope is signing day in 2014 will be symbolic for the commitments, not de-commitments.
