By now, some of the shock that came with Bo Davis abruptly leaving USC to rejoin Nick Saban at Alabama has begun to wear off.
Part of what made Davis an attractive candidate to Steve Sarkisian was his ability to open doors in the southern portion of the United States.
One of Davis’ recruits both at Texas and during his brief stint with USC was 6-3, 196-pound athlete and current Longhorn commit Lorenzo Joe (Abilene, Texas/Abilene Cooper).
Joe told WeAreSC.com’s Blair Angulo that he still plans on visiting USC “this month” and was informed by Tee Martin that his scholarship offer stands.
According to the update, Joe is targeting Jan. 31 for his visit.
During his senior season, the multipurpose athlete threw for 332 yards and rushed for 283 yards.
At 6-3, if Joe were to commit to the Trojans and play wide receiver, he would provide a tall presence on the outside for the quarterback to target.
ESPN ranks Joe as a four-star athlete and the No. 27 prospect available from the Lone Star State.
Rivals.com similarly lists Joe as a four-star prospect, but as a wide receiver, and have him ranked No. 21 in Texas.
Joe committed to the Longhorns in August of 2012.
